(Although builders have not yet finished!)After 7 months and 2 days, we finally were able to welcome people in through the new entrance... and in the space of 24 hours over 500 people took the chance to walk through the automatic* doors. 220 for the Crib Service, 100 for the midnight celebration and 240 for Christmas Day.
So, here for the first time are pictures without any scaffold, cables, holes or builders!

Afternoon all, time for another update. This one will focus mainly on the new foyer. I realised most of the pictures had concentrated on the main structure, so here we have a few from inside, taking a look around.
First of all this is the view through where the old kitchen was. I am taking this photo with a good amount of space (the current foyer) still behind me... so as you can see, it is bog.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06831736629784009928noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776089969159402769.post-14845679299639766802010-10-19T10:10:00.000+01:002010-10-19T10:10:31.320+01:00New Kitchen and Big Changes! Greetings all... time for a building development update...
First of all, the asbestos has been removed, the remaining steels have been fitted and the entrance is taking shape. As you can see there will be plenty of glass on the front of the entrance.
And similarly from the inside there will be a 'panoramic' view

But I thought we had had enough photos from ground level so for the rest of the shots I went 'upstairs'
Taken from outside the lift... this is the view of the roof above the main entrance. You can see it includes two big rooflights to ensure the front part of the foyer is naturally lit as much as possible.

A lot of the work recently has been on the flat roof. Once this is finished and the place is secure, the kitchen walls will be knocked down. Many thanks to all those who helped to clear the kitchen so effectively and efficiently on Monday.
For many of us we have wondered how big the new entrance will really be! Well these foundations give us some sort of idea!

The scaffolding is going up so that the steels can go in that will support the flat roof over this back part of the foyer. Steels arrive tomorrow! It will keep changing.
