26 Nov 2010 - let's take a look inside

The work on the new kitchen has only just begun but it is certainly taking shape...

You can see here the door leading to the Children's Centre. The observant of you will have noticed that there is now no window on the wall above where the radiator now is. The back wall of glass still looks great!
A similar picture, but this one includes the boiler room!

A view from the back windows towards the front entrance...
And this is the new kitchen that will be shared between Link and Children's Centre. The door you can see leads to the CC, whilst the picture is taken from the current small kitchen in The Link. (Bonus question #33 why are the hobs not above the oven?)
We now go upstairs and here's the view you will get when coming out of the Conference Room upstairs...
The Youth Pod continues to take shape...
And this is the view from the Youth Pod, across the bridge. Upon the bridge is Fred - the site manager... hats off to you Mr Fred!

Start of a lot of posts...

First of all one from the original view point... on Nov 24th... a month before partial handover of the whole site

Most exciting post yet!

Looking down from the Bridge Link from the balcony to the Youth Pod this is the view you could enjoy looking at the front entrance... it gets better...!

Looking the other way from the bridge. The entrance to the disabled toilet and The Link are on the left, the Children's Centre office on the right.
Standing in the same place on the bridge. This is the view of the windows that will provide so much light for this new entrance foyer.
Coming in to the new Foyer, your eyes will immediately go up and take in the size of the new build.

For many years this has been the poky passageway between the pub and church, but from now on it will be the uplifting entrance to a central place in the Community!
Looking from the reception desk area this is the view looking back towards the front entrance.

In this picture you can clearly see the bridge extending from the balcony on the right, across to the youth pod entrance on the left.
With the bridge on the left this view gives us a glimpse of the doors into the Link and The Link conference rooms
In a previous post, I hinted at the size of this balcony. It will be an excellent place for many a meeting!
Our final picture is of the balcony, bridge and front entrance... hopefully this is all whetting your appetite and hopefully we will be 'in' within the next 3-4 weeks...

More from 12th November

Here we go... more views from in and around the place...

First up is one taken as a mistake, but in a strange way I quite like it!
Its a view into the Children's centre - at the far end is what will be the toilet!

I've asked Fred if there are stairs that come down as it seems these stairs only go up!
The Youth pod takes shape too

In this photo, you can see the size of the new balcony. It is taken from the top of the stairs and all the floor you can see will be the balcony outside room 1 of The Link Conference Rooms.
This will be ideal in itself as a meeting place or a space for a breakout group. (Its also where the vending machine will be!)
The orange doorway on the right is the door directly into Room 1. Just out of shot (immediately to right of where I'm standing) is the main door into the conference rooms

From the balcony this view is upwards towards the roof of the Link above the bridge and the main entrance.
With these windows and another even bigger one out of shot to the left, it is certainly bright up there!
With all the building work going on, we have taken the opportunity to update other bits of the premises too. In the hall 2 fans like this one have been installed in the ceiling. These will be excellent in the winter and summer to push heat down or take heat away...

We have also had new efficient and quiet wall heaters fitted... the hall will be usable and warm (or cool)
Lots is going on outside too. The large extraction / ventilation unit has been lifted onto the flat roof.

Also possible here to see some of the windows going into the foyer.

Its slowly coming together...

The New Kitchen takes shape

The new kitchen is slowly taking shape...
This picture was taken 8 days ago... more changes since, but it gives a sense of the size of the new hatch...
Taken much closer to the new hatch... the builder in shot gives the viewer a sense of perspective and just how big this servery will be...

Foyer Pics plus...

Afternoon all, time for another update. This one will focus mainly on the new foyer. I realised most of the pictures had concentrated on the main structure, so here we have a few from inside, taking a look around.

First of all this is the view through where the old kitchen was. I am taking this photo with a good amount of space (the current foyer) still behind me... so as you can see, it is bog... those stairs look a long way away don't they!
If you are coming out of the Children's Centre rooms, this is the view of the foyer you would see... just out of shot to the left is the new entrance into the Chapel. And directly ahead is the old kitchen space (where I was to take the previous photo)

And another view in the foyer. This one looking from the back wall towards the new front doors. Again, this gives a sense of space.... the new reception desk will be along this wall on the right.
And this view is looking from the front door, back from where I had just been!

And this is the extent of the new kitchen being built where the front entrance was. The door is on the left and the hatch is one of two hatches there will be. The other will give access to the main hall, this one will serve everyone in the foyer.

And from the other side of the wall, you can start to get a sense of the size of the new kitchen.

This is what the outside of the Church currently looks like. You can see the rafters for the roof over the entrance, the tiles and roof lights are in place and the youth pod is looking good (the room above the word 'Baptist' in the picture)

If you drive into the public car park, no longer will you just see the end of a square box, but the entrance and roof will be visible...

New Kitchen and Big Changes!

Greetings all... time for a building development update...

First of all, the asbestos has been removed, the remaining steels have been fitted and the entrance is taking shape. As you can see there will be plenty of glass on the front of the entrance.

And similarly from the inside there will be a 'panoramic' view

From outside it is now possible to catch a glimpse of how it will look... the roof is going on, visually joining the two buildings together...

And from the back...

The other change happening is the start of the work on the new kitchen.

Shortly, the current entrance will be fully blocked off! And with the new entrance not yet ready this means we have to be imaginative in how we get in to the church!

The Lounge / Room 1 / Mabel Weymouth Room / Bubbles Room / Old Creche Room / Front Meeting Room or however you know this room has been cleared ready for its transformation into the new kitchen.

Everything is gone!

So how will we get in? Well until we can get through the hall, this window will be removed and we can get through here, whilst Mark works on the area around the front door.

And this is what it looked like a week ago from my normal place of standing...
But as you can see from picture above, the timber roof has now been fitted!
