From the First Floor

A view of the entrance way, still slowly coming together....

But I thought we had had enough photos from ground level so for the rest of the shots I went 'upstairs'

Taken from outside the lift... this is the view of the roof above the main entrance. You can see it includes two big rooflights to ensure the front part of the foyer is naturally lit as much as possible.

Looking towards the front entrance... the roof you can see will shortly be removed to leave a wide balcony...

The scaffolding bars in the middle of this photo are roughly where the bridge will go - so that you can walk from the balcony to the Youth Pod.

And here is our first look at the youth pod - the floor level will go down, so it will be of significant size once finished...

And this is a view from the new flat roof. In this you can various parts of the design...
  1. Why the pitched roof to the right of the photo will be removed
  2. The width of the balcony - as wide as the entrance below.
  3. The size of the youth pod - the floor level will be the same as the floor you can see on the right
  4. How the extension of the roof will join together the existing roof of The Link and the square roof of the Front Hall.

And this one is - well its an extra one I took... but not quite sure what it shows!!!

Big changes

Monday saw a fairly large crane arrive...
Slowly but surely the steel (which eventually arrived!) was lowered into place
And the new front door began to take shape...
But then more steel was erected and its not only an impressive door, but the roof that protrudes from the front is truly splendid... prepare to be amazed when you see it yourself!
This is a view from inside... makes the foyer even bigger!
And not only have we had changes at the front, but all the windows have gone it at the back of the foyer! It is all looking so good!

September part 1

From the normal vantage point... just see the flat roof beginning to take shape... lets take a closer look...
The foyer as seen when you leave the Children Centre Rooms... the kitchen wall (with the open window) will soon also be demolished to make the foyer even bigger...
The scaffolding is all in place for two important parts of the development. a) to extend the existing roof over the hall and b) for the steels for the entrance to arrive...
This is the old kitchen.... with a new opening! This will be the new entrance from the foyer into the Front Hall
All becomes a bit clearer from other side... the cupboards have gone... the door is blocked up....
This is the new shared kitchen for the Link and the Children's Centre

And for our observant blog viewers... can you tell the difference... this is a picture of the CC toilet... and it now faces a different way, so it is accessible from the corridor rather than through CC Room 2...

The work will really now start motoring, so please keep looking to see all the changes....
