25 June update...

Work has continued... i have a sense that those three words will be a recurring theme for this blog... Fred is back off holiday next week and will be looking to finish off the work in the back rooms and begin to concentrate on the new foyer very shortly.

First picture for you this week is taken from what will be the new exit from the main hall (The Chapel). It gives an idea of the width of the new foyer. The red door is where the entrance to the CC will be and the large door space is for patio doors onto the garden and terraced area... The white structure to the left is the temporary building that is next to come down!
Other 'outside' pictures show the new steps and extended ramp from the new emergency exit.

Our next pictures show the main CC room. Now with the steels in place you can get an idea of its size...

Taken from the other side... can't see a lot... except a better view of the steels!

The CC second room, again, not that it;s clear you get a concept of space...

And the CC smallest room... you can't quite see the hole in the floor in the corner!

And finally, the picture I promised every week... well I've cheated a bit and rotated to the right, so that you can see the new window openings.... Why did I choose the place for this photo... right behind a big bush????

Blessings everyone

Week 3 and the CC takes shape...

Welcome to a new post - a reminder, that if you want to see the blog full size, click on the "Building Work Blog" above and if you want to see a picture full size, simply click on it (works even better if you have opened the blog in its own page)
The new corridor has been built. This will provide the emergency escape route from upstairs. But more importantly, during the building work this wall (on the right) will separate the building site from The Link, so The Link will be able to be used with people going up the stairs for toilets and kitchen... (sounds confusing, I know, but its is brilliant that Fred and his team have done this job first)
I love this picture as it shows the moving door... the 'hole' is the door at the end of the new Fire Escape (as seen above), the white door is where the exit has been for last 9 years  this will be blocked up very soon) and if you look carefully you can see the patch of bricks to the left of the white door, where the door was when it was a pub...
This is taken through the 'window' into the CC meeting room. The opening on the right will be made into a window, and the wall being built (coming towards us) is the new wall of the toilet.
(I love the occasional pointers to its previous life - in this picture, a notice for Bus Tokens!)

The doorway behind the barrow has been blocked up (this was the corridor leading to the fire door), the new opening has been made for the door into the CC Meeting room, at the end of the corridor!)

Simply a wider picture of the CC Creche...

I said I would stand in the same place each week and take a photo, but I haven't! This is mainly because at present all the work has been done inside.
However next week the necessary changes to the fire escape routes in the church will be completed and the temporary link will start to come down. Then those of you in Cosham will be able to see some of the changes yourselves.

The work continues...

Week 2 and the changes continue

A shortened week this week with the Bank Holiday. But a quick glance at the 'old beer stores' reveals some noticeable changes... doors have been blocked up, window spaces created, some of the building store areas have been dismantled...
Next week Fred and his team hope to put the fire doors in the Church corridor so they can begin work on the temporary Link.... if work is taking place in the corridor, please take extra care and please use the toilets in the Link entrance.
